If you’re reading this right now, you’re probably seeing this website at its most…well, let’s just say it’s not exactly the best. I recently installed a new WordPress theme, and it’s like a bolt-on website template with all sorts of placeholder content and images straight out of a stock library.
Now, if you recognized the quote in my title, you know that my site is just as bad – as…well, let’s just say it’s not exactly visually appealing. But here’s the thing: it forces me to make a choice. I can either embrace the terrible aesthetic and pretend it’s a throwback to old-school web design, or I can learn the new stuff that comes with the (arguably now bloated and over-featured) Avada WordPress theme and get this mess under control.
It’s kind of like those YouTube channels where detailing shops deep-clean filthy cars in high-speed to AI-generated music loops. It’s actually kind of relaxing to me to take a deep breath and focus on a big mess one bit at a time. I solve something here, break something there, figure out what broke and why, and then I repeat until the result is something that I’m actually happy with.
I’ve even started a roadmap of phases for this site that will align with where I am personally and professionally. My curiosity and tendency to jump into problems and figure them out will help me tame this beast of a site along the way, and maybe even make a decent metaphor for where things stand in my life.
